So, I have an idea for a chronicle I've been wnating to run for awhile. It's set towards the end of the Dark Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance. It's multigenre, and is based on the legend of the founding of the city of Karlsruhe in Germany. Historically, it also covers the transition from walled to unwalled city. I want to try to judge a level of interest before I start running it, though. If I have a large enough interest, it will be full multigenre, with Vampire, Changeling, Werewolf, mortals, and possibly even Mage (although more limited). The primary genres, however, will be Vampire, Changeling and mortals out of Laws of the Hunt revised. There is a semi-set storyline based on the mythology surrounding the foundation of Karlsruhe, but players ultimately will make the story. It will be a short-term chronicle, as I will be moving to Claremont, CA, in late August. Any feedback?

Re: Multigenre LARP in SF
Sat, April 17, 2004 - 2:10 PMWhy limit mage? Just use linear spell cards. Rip a card to cast a spell. -

Re: Multigenre LARP in SF
Sat, April 17, 2004 - 4:38 PMSure, but LARP doesn't work if it isn't limited. I assume there will be some sort of skill system.. well maybe allow mage characters to buy different spells... HAve a list of names and effects. That way other players know what to do if they were hit by them. It would balance because the spells wouldnt have to be overpowerful, and characters such as werewolves and vampires can have resistances and natural attacks as part of their skills base. Mages could have the option to advance to other spell levels with experience. I think it could all be nicely balanced if the skills were properly thought out and playtested. Of course the technique is to not to use or allow too many skills... too many gets confuzzling. -

Sat, April 17, 2004 - 5:25 PMI'm not designing a system. I'm planning on using White Wolf. While Changeling, Werewolf, and Vampire can be readily balanced, Mage tends to be a little overpowered if the storytellers aren't careful in limiting the players from the beginning. -
